Black DiamondThere is a new trend in jewelry and it is turning to beautiful raw uncut diamonds.  Raw diamonds are readily available purchased in the shape of cubes.   Diamonds come in all the colors of the rainbow, although we consider the most valuable to be colorless. Diamonds were associated with divinity and good luck to those who carried them. Ownership of this gem in the past was very restricted and only kings could own all colors! The ancient Greeks believed that diamonds were the tears of gods and the Romans afterward thought that diamonds were the splinters of stars. The birthstone of April, western culture now associates diamonds with wealth, power, eternity and love.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketUzuri Designs has been featured as a designer on Style Conspiracy!  This is a wonderful blog that features independent artists and designers.  The ladies who contribute to this blog are very talented in thier own right.  Be sure to check them out!

I have been away from this blog for awhile but I am not going to make excuses.  There have been many improvements I am making to the company.  I have been preparing media materials,  refining new designs, learning new techniques and learning how I can better serve my customers.

One way to find out how to better serve my customers is to simply ask them.  So I asked through this survey.  And they are voicing there opinions.  I love it.  I have finally come up with a newsletter format that I can live with at the time being as well.

I have been bettering my self through health and wellness both physically and spiritually.  I found that I needed to stop to gain insight to the direction I was going in my life.  Unfortunately yet fortunately I had to say goodbye to circumstances that were impeding my progress.  It was a ceremonious yet silent goodbye whispered with love and a prayer.

Things are great and I am going to do a better job of keeping ya’ll updated.

You Belong in 1950

You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

What Year Do You Belong In?

I am not surprised.

I am always asked,” How did you get started?”

I have been crafting honestly since I was a very young girl.  I remember my mom teaching me macrame.  We used to make plant hangers and key chains, and I would sell my crafts to get money to buy Christmas gifts.  One year I made $18!  That was a lot for a 10 year old back in those days.  :)   Then I remember being dragged to the yarn store with my mother who would keep us there for hours and hours while she mulled over her choices.  We could not go to a store that didn’t sell yarn and we would always end up in that section.  Of course I was a teen by then and thought I had better things to do.

Since I have picked arts and crafts up again, I have done gift baskets, scrap-booking(still trying my hand at this one), stamping and card-making, graphic arts, (I actually took courses in this one), soap-making, and sewing, all in an attempt to find my thing.  Jewelry making came by accident as I was helping a friend of mine who is an independent fashion designer.  She asked me if I wanted to help her make some jewelry.  I said yes and I was hooked from that moment on.

So I said all that to say this, I have dabbled and will continue to dabble in many art forms and I have my mom to thank for raising me well rounded and open minded(even if she did not do this on purpose!)

Here are some things that she made and sent to me.  It felt like Christmas!

This is a felted tote with fun fur and a beanie cap,  I love these hats they look so cool with my growing out locs.

This Pink set is for my daughter,  she absolutely loved it!

Here are some more crocheted beanies.

I would also like to thank my other family members who I am grateful for there influence as well.  My grandmother  is a beautiful quilter.  She makes some stunning quilts.  My aunt(who happens to be my grandmother’s sister),  introduced me to stamping and a lot of other stuff.  My cousin(who is my grandmother’s sister’s daughter), her creativity astounds me all the time.  She is a jewelry designer also, you can take a look at her here.

So when I am asked again, how did I get started, I will quote Will.I. Am’ song  and say “I got it from my momma, I got it from my momma, I got it from my momma”….

You're not fussy when it comes to beer. If someone hands it to you, you'll drink it.

In fact, you don't understand beer snobbery at all. It all tastes the same once you're drunk!

You're an enthusiastic drinker, and you can often be found at your neighborhood bar.

You're pretty good at holding your liquor too - you've had lots of experience.

What's Your Beer Personality?

This last one was probably more accurate a few years ago :)

to distract me from making much needed jewelry for 2 upcoming shows in September?

Probably not, but this is sooooo much fun!  With Myspace and blogging and Etsy and a website(neither of which are complete by the way)  I have joined a social network called indiepublic.  OMG!  If you love independent artists, bloggers, handcrafted works of all kinds, you will find it here.  And its truly about networking and making friends.  Leave the provocative photos of your cleavage for that other place.  Do I really need to see a close-up of your ba-dunka-dunk to make a friend?  Although I am a member of that other place and It is really fun, hanging out with all sorts of other artists sparks my creativity and its a totally different vibe.  I hope you visit and if you get all giddy like me about art, sign up, and become my friend.
