What does a “summer afternoon” mean or feel like to you….?
This is the topic over at Studio Friday.
Lazy days of summer usually means : Lemonade, Iced Tea, Drive-in Movies(Yeah, there is still one left here in Columbus) Oh, and stepping over my children because they are usually laid out somewhere in the house.
Here is my 11 year old, notice the remote in the picture THIS child of mine always and I mean always has ther remote control nearby. A true man’s man indeed

This is my 8 year old. This child can fall asleep ANYWHERE! LOL She rides her bike all afternoon and by evening she is whipped

And this is my 14 year old As he is so laid back he just oozes lazy days of summer. We were at the Drive-In when this was taken.

So yeah family fun times laying around the house trying to beat the August Heat!
to distract me from making much needed jewelry for 2 upcoming shows in September?
Probably not, but this is sooooo much fun! With Myspace and blogging and Etsy and a website(neither of which are complete by the way) I have joined a social network called indiepublic. OMG! If you love independent artists, bloggers, handcrafted works of all kinds, you will find it here. And its truly about networking and making friends. Leave the provocative photos of your cleavage for that other place. Do I really need to see a close-up of your ba-dunka-dunk to make a friend? Although I am a member of that other place and It is really fun, hanging out with all sorts of other artists sparks my creativity and its a totally different vibe. I hope you visit and if you get all giddy like me about art, sign up, and become my friend.
I have gone absolutely crazy about turqoise! Of course after I made the custom project for a coworker of mine, I had all these beads left over and I was just craving something to do. Here is the result.
Ps. I am taking more pics and they should be on the Etsy Shop soon.

This is pink turquoise which I thought was really fun to work with.
Fave item in your studio/craft space- why do you love it and how does it inspire you (art or journal+ photo)?
What a great topic! I guess my favorite item is not really an item but a prayer. I have a creativity prayer posted on my office/workspace wall.

Creator of the Universe, how infinite and astonishing are your worlds. Thank you for sacred art and sustaining presence. Divine imagination, forgive me for my blindness. Open all of my eyes, reveal the light of truth, let original beauty guide my every stroke. Universal creativity, flow through me from my heart through my mind to my hand, infuse my work with spirit to feed hungry souls.

I think that it is an awesome testiment to remember to keep myself humble when I have a time of high creativity and to calm myself when I find that I am frustrated or blocked.
To find out what other artist favs are visit,
I think these colors work really well together. For a long time I have been wanting to design a piece of jewelry with turquoise and tiger eye stones. I finally received the opportunity when a co-worker was viewing pieces of jewelry and she stated that she wanted a 3-strand necklace with tuquoise and brown.
I was very excited about that opportunity and here is what I came up with:

It was such a joy to create and she loved the result. I hope to be able to do more like this very soon.
I am discovering these days that a lot of times people dont listen, they just wait to talk. There have been a few occasions where a friend or an associate and I have gone around and around in cirlcles reiterating the same points over and over. It’s not so much that I need them to agree with me but I would like them to understand. So in my quest to be understood, I have learned that I must seek first to understand. How is that accomplished? By listening effectively and posing no judgements.
Listening takes great practice. It involves getting out of our own self-centerdness and paying attention to the world around us.
Practice the 5 second rule. When you are engaged in conversation with another, pause for 5 seconds after the other person has finished speaking. This may seem alarming to them at first, however you can assure them that you are processing what they have just said and you will be out of the habit of thinking of your response while they are speaking.
And remember what grandma used to say, you have 2 ears and only 1 mouth, so listen twice as much as you speak.
This is going to be fun. I like the idea of being able to connect. Everyone seems to be blogging these days and while I will make every attempt to keep an up to date blog. I wont be sitting at the computer all day as opposed to actually going outside and meeting people and enjoying the earth I am living on.
